WSOCBR blog alert!! *
Tom Kelly questions the resurgence of the "boys' own adventure" genre in this Guardian blog. Kelly examines stereotypes, gender roles, and what they mean to children's literature for the 21st century. Oh, he also asks the highly amusing question, "Are boys the new girls?" Boys are definitely the new girls. And girls are the new cats. And cats are the new war weapon of choice. Oh, I could go on, but I won't. Except to say that he better not even begin to talk smack about the Choose Your Own Adventure series, because the man who does that has to answer to me.
