"Back in the day" is the new "So last week"

Worried your wordsmithing doesn't pop? Check out the 33rd annual List of Words Banished from the Queen's English for Misuse, Overuse and General Uselessness issued by Lake Superior State University to make sure you don't have a perfect storm of tired phrases surging through your prose. Check out the list here and article here. Some banned confections include "authoring" a book and the use of "emotional" instead of real description. Always goes back to "show, don't tell," doesn't it?

The good news is that "truthiness" has been reinstated for use. Sweet.
